Up Helly Aa, 28 January in Shetland, Scotland, is Europe’s largest largest fire festival, involving a torch lit procession and the burning of a Viking longship, culminating in a ceilidh that lasts long in to the night. The 1880s tradition heralds the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
All throughout 2020, there is the Heart200, a planned 200 mile driving route that promises spectacular Scottish scenery and highlights, with two national parks and the Cairngorms, as well as numerous lochs, distilleries, and highland wildlife. This journey to remember goes through Perth, Stirling, the Trossachs, and Highland Perthshire.
Sports fans will be needing to get their coaches booked for the start of the RBS Six Nations Rugby, with matches in Cardiff, London, and Edinburgh. England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales will be locking horns from 1 February to 14 March.

The Dark Skies Festival is being held in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, which still remain some of the darkest places in the UK in which to observe the night sky.
