Fashion trends come and fashion trends go, but the very latest in men’s shoes might well prove to be a bit of a surprise to some… high heels are apparently growing in popularity right now!
Figures from Lyst.co.uk show that online searches for ‘men’s heels’ have risen by 30 per cent since 2017, the Guardian reports. And all sorts of different styles of heeled shoes for men are now available from some big name brands, including Gucci, Saint Laurent and Maison Margiela all coming up with their own designs.
And celebrities have started to adopt the trend as their own, with the likes of Shawn Mendes, Thimothee Chalamet and Harry Styles all taking to the red carpet in stacked heels, looking to icons like David Bowie, Kiss and the New York Dolls for style pointers.
And last year, singer Sam Smith posted a picture of him in heels, with the caption: “Tonight I wore heels for the first time to an award show… There was a time when I thought I’d never ever ever be able to be myself like this in front of the industry or anyone.”
If it’s a smart look you’re going for, a heeled boot would go perfectly with silk knitted ties. Just remember a few simple rules when it comes to buying a new tie: avoid wearing stripes with a stripy jacket and a striped shirt, and make sure that at least one colour in your tie matches your shoes, belt, shirt or jacket.
