Most people are familiar with Steph and Dom Parker’s hilarious sense of humour, having watched them on Channel 4’s Gogglebox for the last few years. However, the pair took to the screens again to let viewers see another side of their personal lives – their experience with their severely autistic son Max.
In the documentary, entitled Steph and Dom: Can Cannabis Save Our Son?, the hoteliers looked into how medicinal cannabis could help Max’s condition, suffering from 100 seizures a day.
The 18-year-old started having fits at just four months’ old, and his autism means he has the mental age of a six-year-old.
In the documentary, the Parkers spoke to the mother of Billy Caldwell, Charlotte, to find out what benefits her 13-year-old son has experienced since taking medicinal cannabis oil.
She said that, as opposed to approaching her son cautiously for an embrace, he had started to run towards her “with his arms outstretched wanting a hug from me”.
Ms Caldwell added: “I knew then that his little brain was starting to heal, there was something changing.”
The use of medicinal cannabis has been legalised in the UK since November, and two-year-old Jorja Emerson recently became the first child in Britain to be prescribed the best UK CBD oil for her severe epilepsy.
The Daily Mail reported how she suffered from 30 seizures every day before London’s Portland Hospital prescribed her with cannabis oil to be administered twice a day to manage the condition.
