2020 has certainly seen many of us making substantial changes to our lifestyles, with more people than ever working from home being among the most marked differences in how we are now living our lives.

As BuyAssociation recently pointed out, 34 per cent of the UK’s workforce will now be working from home indefinitely, and many employers have announced that their employees will have more flexibility about home working in the future.

The news provider also shared the findings of a survey by the Guild of Property Professionals, which found that having a home office is now important to 21 per cent of people.

Earlier this year, Mansion Global shared some recommendations about how to create the perfect home working space. One of the keys to getting the aesthetic right in your home office is to remember that it is part of your home.

That means you should avoid looking at how you can make it look like an office and should instead focus on how you can make it look like part of your home.

As New York City-based interior designer Kevin Dumais told the publication, “You don’t live in a corporate environment so your home shouldn’t reflect that.” This means looking at your existing decor and choosing furniture, like chairs and tables or desks, that match that aesthetic.

This could also be an excellent opportunity to upgrade your library interior design to give you a dedicated home working space that is comfortable and matches your style.

If you have bookshelves, it is important to make sure that they are not standing empty. Liz Caan, a Boston-based interior designer, said that no shelves should be empty, but noted that you do not necessarily need to fill them with books.

“Bookshelves look best when they’re full (meaning there are no empty shelves) and when they have a mix of things that represent the homeowners, like books, art, objects and pictures,” she stated.

Finally make sure you do not neglect the walls of your workspace. By filling some of the empty space with stylish contemporary art work you can make the space more colourful and personable. Take a look at the beautiful contemporary collections available at the artz-i.com online store.
