We’re just a few short days away from the 24th National BBQ Week, taking place between May 25th and 31st, so now’s the time to make sure you have everything you need to throw the barbecue to end all barbecues.
The weather’s looking pretty good as well, with lots of sunshine on the horizon and highs of 25 degrees – so don’t forget to layer up the sun cream either. It can be easy to neglect skincare but it’s vital that you make sure you’re protecting yourself so the fun can continue… sunburn isn’t a laughing matter!
On May 25th, there’s going to be Barbi for Britain, the biggest Backyard BBQ Bash on Bank Holiday Monday, in aid of NHS, frontline and supermarket staff.
While we may not be able to meet up and BBQ with all our family and friends this year, we can still share our BBQ experiences online and raise funds and awareness for all those keeping the country going amid the pandemic.
National BBQ Week itself was first launched way back in 1997 and has grown hugely since then, helping to change everyone’s attitudes towards summertime al fresco eating. In fact, the BBQ market has grown from just nine million BBQ occasions in 1997 to about 135 million last year!
And given that we’re all still in lockdown and social distancing measures will be implemented until at least the end of the year, we’re sure that barbecuing is something that we’ll all be turning to again and again as a way to celebrate and have fun together as a family over the next few months.
