We’ve all messed around with anal inflatables and the like before (and no doubt we will again – they are a lot of fun, after all!), but when it comes to sex toys for women, it seems that the market is being revolutionised right now, thanks to female designers who are steering it towards wellness and a true understanding of how women can be pleasured.

There are all sorts of start-up brands out there now trying to push boundaries where female sex toys are concerned, whether they’re primarily focused on hands-free vibrators, microrobotics or even fashion-led jewellery designed to enhance sensation, Wired reports.

So it’s less about pornographic penetrative sex and more about focusing on sexual wellness and understanding female anatomy.

MIT-educated engineer and co-founder of Dame Products Janet Lieberman had this to say on the matter: “A penis is designed for many different things, evolutionarily speaking, and female pleasure is not in its top three functions. That’s not to say penises can’t give pleasure but if you’re optimising for female pleasure, that’s not exactly the shape you’re going to end up with.”

If you’re looking to spice up your sex life a bit, there’s no easier way to do it than with the introduction of a sex toy or two to your steamy bedroom sessions. Sit down and talk it over with your partner so you can decide what to get together – you might well be surprised at what each other are interested in when it comes to kinky sex!
